At Ballito United Football Club (BUFC), Coaches are a vital ambassador for our organization, our families, and the broader North Coast community. A coaches role extends far beyond teaching tactical drills; Coaches are a mentors, educators, and role models tasked with shaping both the football skills and the personal character of our youth.

This Code of Conduct outlines the non-negotiable standards of professionalism, integrity, and safety required of every BUFC coach.

1. Professionalism & Club Representation

  • Punctuality and Preparation:
    Every coach must arrive early, fully prepared, and organized with structured, age-appropriate session plans.
  • Respectful Communication:
    Maintain professional, courteous, and constructive communication with players, parents, fellow coaches, and match officials at all times.
  • Care for Club Property:
    Take proactive and reasonable care of all training equipment, playing kit, and facility grounds.

  • Internal Resolution:
    If you have grievances or suggestions regarding club management or operational staff, raise them privately through appropriate internal channels;

  • Never criticize BUFC or its staff publicly.

2. Player Development & Fair Play

  • Fun and Growth First:
    Keep football highly engaging, fun, challenging, and appropriate. BUFC prioritizes individual player growth, sportsmanship, teamwork, technical skill development, and a lifelong love for the game over a “win-at-all-costs” mentality. Coaches must invest consistent time and energy to ensure training sessions and matches are highly engaging, fun, safe, and promote values of good sportsmanship.
  • Fair Squad Management:
    Select matchday squads and player combinations fairly, keeping the best interest of every individual’s development and long-term progress at heart. All coaches need to read and abide by the BUFC Guide on matchtime minutes for players.
  • Inclusivity and Zero Discrimination:
    Treat all players equally and provide growth opportunities to youth from all backgrounds. Absolutely zero tolerance will be shown for bullying, harassment, or discrimination of any kind.

    Do not engage in one-on-one private text messaging or social media communication with any minor player. All team logistics and feedback must go through official parent group chats.
