In 2022 we entered 12 teams into the league, 10 into the Durban Central Football Association and 2 into the ILembe Regional League including our first team who qualified to play in the SAB regional league.
We introduced an additional beginners U6/U7 age group for the first time in new training times on the Astro turf. This was extremely successful with the membership filling up very quickly.
BUFC registered over 250 players on MySAFA this season (the SAFA electronic database)
We have increased our coaching staff to thirteen in total and we continue to train the coaches and provide formal SAFA CAF coaching courses for their formal qualifications.
All competitive teams performed extremely well in the 2022 league and Cup Finals –
- U10: 1st Place League, Runners Up Cup
- U11: 1St Place League, Runners Up Cup, Juventus 5-a-side winners.
- U12: 1st Place League, Quarter Finals Cup
- U13A: 1st Place League, Winners Cup Final, Easter Tournament Winners, Juventus Five-a-side winners, Toti 5-a-side Winners, un-defeated and no draws in 2022.
- U13B: 1st Place League, Winners Plate Final.
- U15: 2nd Place League, Runners Up Cup, Juventus 5-a-side winners.
- U17: 1st League, Semi Final Cup, Juventus 5-a-side winners.
- U17 Stanger: 1st Place regional League, Semi Final Engen Cup.
- 1st Team: Winners ILembe Regional SAB League, Qualified provincial playoffs.
The club won additional 5-a-side age groups titles in various tournaments held through the year.
In 2022, BUFC had 6 players make the KZN Elite squad and 8 of our players achieved full KZN colours and represented KZN at an interprovincial level.
